UTM For The Home

One product I use myself for my home firewall needs is Sophos UTM. Sophos offers a free home license for the software appliance giving you pretty much all the standard features with some limitations (32,000 sessions and 50 IPs). You can throw this onto standard x86 hardware or deploy as a virtual machine in VMware ESXi. One feature not currently offered is support for wireless cards so you’d need to use separate hardware for that, or go with something like pfSense. The Sophos UTM is a very simple solution to configure and use making it a good start for complete noobs who barely know how to turn on a computer.
